Learning Process

Children learn at their own paces. I will evaluate your child one-on-one, to see what level he or she is at. Then I will build from there at their own speed. Contact Hadleytutoring.com today to make an appointment on the path to success.

Inspiring to learn.

About me:

My name is Denise Hadley and I have lived in Southern California for 51 years.  I have a gift and a love for teaching. I began teaching Vacation Bible school when I was 9 years old. I taught a Good News Club for 20 kids every Saturday when I was 11 years old. When I was in middle school and high school I was a teachers aid at the Elementary school I had attended. I followed that career path to El Camino Junior College, where I earned an A.A. degree in Liberal Studies, with Speech and Math concentrations. Then I earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an English minor and my teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach. I substituted for 6 months at various schools teaching in grades K-12, to find what grade I enjoyed the most.

My first full-time teaching job was working at D.D. Johnston Elementary School in Norwalk, CA., teaching 2nd grade. I was in charge of planning all the hands-on science curriculum and making sure each class had all the supplies for each experiment. In 1989, I was married and began teaching with the Los Angeles Unified School District. First, in East Los Angeles at Eastman Ave. School, where I taught 2nd grade and was in charge of the computer learning center. I then taught 2nd grade in Watts, where my specialties were math, science, music and public speaking.

With my home life expanding by having children of my own, I chose to start substitute teaching again, which lead me to a full-time teaching job at Community Baptist Elementary School, Manhattan Beach, CA. As my oldest child reached kindergarten age, I began to home school her and continued through high school where she graduated when she was 16 years old. As each of my children reached school age, I home schooled them as well. My second daughter is now in college and she received the Presidents Scholarship for having such high SAT's from high school. My son just graduated from high school. Currently, I still am home schooling my youngest daughter.  All four of my children are special need students. While at home, I have been tutoring elementary and adult students, since 2008. I enjoy teaching all subjects and watching the children blossom in their learning. I also have taught ESL to adults as well as hosting foreign exchange students.

My hobbies are traveling and going on mission trips. I have traveled to 8 countries and 48 states in the United States. I took a three month trip (for under $100 a day for all five of us) across the United States with my 4 children to educate them on the many wonders of our wonderful nation. I enjoy camping, reading, crafts, and board games. I also enjoy the arts, plays, concerts and museums.

I am very patient, gentle and nurturing. I am a gifted teacher and I love what I do. I have a lot of valuable experience to offer my students. I am trained in the different learning styles. I want children to have fun and to love learning, so they will succeed in all they do.
